The patterns of bark beetles, stemming from the ancient Polish forest Bialowieza, are turned into a score, which is then interpreted by a light scanner and played by a set of programmed fans and dismantled accordions. Delving into thoughts on the behaviour of an endangered species, the code used to interpret these patterns is built on ideas of
fictive probabilities, identifying them as contingent events. Looking at the underlying meaning of these events, the piece reflects an aesthetic, reciprocal fascination of patterns applied as distinct arrangements and compositions of musical and rhythmical structures.
